I wonder if they move on from Pietrangelo. Moving forward with Faulk, Dunn and Parayko as their core? |

This definitely makes me worry about Petro.... I wouldve thought they may have kept him and let Schenn go. If they can dump Allen, Steen contracts, then it's still possible to sign him, but makes it tricky.
If they do sign Petro.. makes me wonder what they will do with the expansion draft coming up and only being able to protect 3 dman. |

They will sign Petro. Possibly as early as next week when Armstrong meets with agent in Toronto.
My guess is they expose Faulk and if Seattle takes him they take him. |

I can't see how they're gonna keep Pietrangelo after the Faulk deal and now this. Maybe they're right to do so. Ya gotta think he's gonna want something like an 8x8 contract in FA which would take him into his age 38 season. Most of the guys who've done deals like that have not ended well for them (see ex. Hawks. Seabrook, Brent). Maybe they're already set on riding out the year with him and then letting him walk. I think if they hadn't won the Cup there's a STRONG possibility they would have just traded him this offseason. |

According to Armstrong, his mandate was to re-sign Schenn and Pietrangelo. Halfway there. I see no reason not to assume he signs Pietrangelo as well regardless of cap/expansion concerns. He has done great things with this roster in the past, I'm not concerned about next season. |

No problem re-signing him. Bouwmeester's contract is done which frees up $3.25M and Bozak can be moved with only one year left which clears up another $5M. That's $8.25M plus what Pietro is already getting at $6.5M = almost $15M. No worries they are fine for at least the next 2 -3 years which is their current window. |

Trading Allen, Steen retiring opens up a lot of space as well. |

i've tried all kinds of conversion charts and E's always translate into actual turds from bulls. |

Army will work a deal with Seattle get them to take a bad contract and we throw in a pick or prospect. Protect guys they want on roster while fixing a cap issue. Guessing this may be Allen.
Then Steen they can possibly work same as Lehtera deal. |

Blues don't have any (currently) bad contracts that last through the expansion draft. Allen, Steen, JBo, Bozak, Gunnar... all UFAs before then. |

* All first- and second-year NHL players, and all unsigned draft choices, will be exempt from selection (and will not be counted toward protection limits.
This is why Allen is still on team this year. So Husso is protected next year. |

Its first and second year professionals, not NHL players. Husso is eligible regardless of where he plays the next 2 years. He would be eligible if it had been this summer. |

Insert "Sobotka" or "Lehtera" or "Berglund" for "Allen" and the statement is equally true, but managed to move all 3 of them. If Allen had a decent year as a backup (which he was always good as) some goalie desperate team will take a chance on him as a one year reclamation project. He honestly might turn into a reliable start with a change of scenery. |

Nice loss last night - LeafGuy89
It wasn't a terrible loss, saw a lot of great things for a season opener. They stormed back from 2-0 down to take the lead, poop penalty in the 3rd cost them. Dominated large portions of the game and easily could've won it. Given their terrible track record in Carolina getting a point is fine

Yeah honestly it was a real fun back and forth game. Both goalies bailed their team out at times. No complaints here. |

It was a very entertaining game, 2 of the fastest teams in the league makes for good puck. Habs held their own against a very good Carolina team
Congrats on the W
